General Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions apply strictly to online and/or in-person purchases from us of:

  • Cinema tickets and, if applicable, 3D glasses.
  • Bowling lane Bookings.
  • Adventure Climbing Bookings.
  • Interactive Darts Bookings.
  • Mini Golf Bookings.
  • Pool and any outdoor activities.
  • Gaming and arcade sessions.
  • Outdoor kids play area.

Collectively, the “Leisure Activities” and each a “Leisure Activity”.

1. Definitions

1.1 “Booking” means a request to book a Leisure Activity at the Venue or through the Website all strictly subject to these terms and conditions.

1.2 “Confirmation” means the email confirmation we will send you to confirm your Booking once we have processed your successful payment and accepted your Booking.

1.3 “Contract” means the Contract formed between you and us once you have received your Confirmation.

1.4 “Force Majeure Event” means a situation beyond our control the consequences of which we could not have been avoided. Such events may include, without limitation: war or threat of war, riot, civil strife, actual or threatened terrorist activity, industrial dispute, natural or nuclear disaster, adverse weather conditions, fire, disease or illness, epidemics, pandemics (including any COVID-19 events) or any such crisis which may impact human health and result in government-imposed restrictions.

1.5 “Member” means a person belonging to a membership scheme offered by us and valid within the Venue.

1.6 “The Light”, “us”, “our” or “we” means Searchlight Ventures Limited, a private company registered in England and Wales with company number 15407778 whose registered address is at 6 Kingly Street, London W1B 5PF.

1.7 “Venue” means The Light Banbury operated by The Light.

1.8 “Waiver” means the waiver you must sign before participating in a climbing session.

1.9 “Website” means the website currently located at the URL www.thelight.co.uk or www.lightcinemas.co.uk.

1.10 “you” means everyone who purchases a ticket and/or visits the Venue, whether or not they have made a purchase from us.

2. Terms of Entry

2.1 The arrival time of your Booking is included as part of the Confirmation. We ask that you arrive in plenty of time for your Booking to ensure your session starts on time and/or you do not miss the beginning of your Booking. If you are late you will not be able to extend your session and you will forfeit part or all of your Booking and no alternative time slot will be permitted.

2.2 Only customers in possession of a cinema Booking will be admitted into the cinema auditorium to which the ticket relates and admission will be permitted only for the duration of the performance specified in the cinema Booking strictly in accordance with these terms and conditions.

2.3 Only customers in possession of a Booking will be admitted into the designated area to which the Booking relates and admission will be permitted only for the duration of the session specified in the Booking and strictly subject to these terms and conditions.

2.4 All Bookings for Leisure Activities can be cancelled by you providing a notice of cancellation to us up to 24 hours before the session free of charge, or 48 hours before for event cinema Bookings. On cancellation of all Leisure Activities except cinema and bowling Bookings, a credit equal to the value of the Booking will be offered to you which will allow you to rebook a Leisure Activity or Activities equal to the value of the credit online within 3 months of the date of the credit issued. You will need to be a Member to be eligible for a credit. No refunds will be given. Please see Clause 5 for details of cinema Booking cancellations and Clause 6 for details of bowling Booking cancellations.

2.5 Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied at all times. No unaccompanied children under the age of 15 are permitted in the Venue after 7pm. No children under the age of 18 are permitted in the Venue after 9pm Sunday to Thursday and after 10pm Friday and Saturday. We reserve the right to ask for a valid proof of age at any time and reserve the right to refuse entry to, or remove from the Venue, any person at any time we believe, in our sole discretion, to be in breach of this Clause 2.5 with no entitlement to a refund or credit.

2.6 If a parent or guardian brings a group of children to the Venue, that parent or guardian is responsible for the welfare and conduct of each individual member of the group at all times whilst in the Venue.

2.7 The Venue operates a zero tolerance policy on smoking and/or drugs whilst inside the Venue. Smoking includes vaping and e-cigarettes. We reserve the right to remove any person at any time we believe in our sole discretion to be in breach of this Clause 2.7 with no entitlement to a refund or credit.

2.8 We reserve the right to require customers who are disruptive, showing COVID-19 symptoms, appear unwell, display antisocial and/or unlawful behaviour or aggressive/violent conduct to leave the Venue immediately without any entitlement to a refund or credit. Our staff members are valuable to us, so please treat them with the respect they deserve or we may require you to leave the Venue. What constitutes disruptive, unwell, antisocial, unlawful or violent behaviour shall be determined in our sole discretion and includes both physical and verbal abuse.

2.9 You may not bring any dangerous and/or illegal items into the Venue at any time. In the interest of safety, security and other reasonable causes, we may ask to search your possessions whilst in the Venue for any item which a staff member believes may contravene these terms and conditions. We reserve the right to refuse entry or require you, if you don’t agree to being searched, to leave the Venue without entitlement to a refund or credit.

2.10 You must keep your personal belongings with you at all times. We accept no responsibility for the loss, theft, alteration or damage to any personal items brought into the Venue. Lost property will be kept for 14 days and then disposed of if left unclaimed.

2.11 You are responsible and liable for any damage or loss you cause to Venue, the equipment provided by the Venue and/or the facilities. We reserve the right to charge you for any damage or loss caused by you based on the full price of fixing and/or replacing any damaged or lost item.

2.12 Please note CCTV is in operation for the purposes of crime prevention and public safety. For further details, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

2.13 The Light has public liability insurance with limits of £5,000,000 under which you will be insured for bodily injury, including without limitation, death, for so long as you are within the Venue’s premises. The coverage and benefits available to you under this policy is subject to the terms and conditions of the policy, including limits on coverage, exclusions from coverage and deductibles. Any release of claims under any Waiver signed by you shall not apply to the extent The Light’s public liability insurance policy covers such claims (and in such case only to the extent of such coverage) and provided you pay any deductibles or self-insured retention associated with any such coverage under The Light’s public liability insurance policy.

2.14 Animals are not permitted in the Venue, aside from Guide, Hearing or other assistance dogs.

2.15 Please note, the Venue contains flashing lights, UV lights and loud music.

2.16 We reserve the right to charge you a cleaning charge if mess is made in the Venue including, without limitation, vomit, stains or dirt. What determines mess and the appropriate charge incurred shall be determined in our sole discretion.

3 Prices and Payment

3.1 All prices for our products and services are as stated in the Venue or on the Website from time to time and include any applicable Value Added Tax.

3.2 Payments at the Venue or through the Website must be made in British pounds sterling (GBP). You must be at least 16 years old to make a purchase on the Website.

3.3 Prices for our products and services may change from time to time, but changes will not affect prices relating to any existing Contract which you may have with us. We reserve the right to promote the same or similar products and services at different prices, or on different terms, in connection with any offer or promotion we may operate from time to time.

3.4 Despite our best efforts, it is possible that some prices in the Venue and on the Website may be incorrect from time to time. If we discover an error in our prices which affects your Booking, we will let you know as soon as possible after we become aware of the error and we will give you the option of continuing with your Booking at the accurate Contract price or cancelling your Booking. We will not process the incorrectly priced part of your Booking until we have received your instructions. If we are unable to contact you using the contact details we have for you, we will treat the relevant party of your Booking as cancelled and notify you by email or telephone using the contact details we have for you. If the pricing error is obvious or could reasonably have been recognised as a mispricing, we will not be obliged to fulfil a Contract at the incorrect price even if we have already provided you with your Confirmation. Please see Clause 5 for the specific price and payment terms and conditions for cinema Bookings.

3.5 Discount codes may be restricted to use by certain customers and/or on specific products or services and we reserve the right to cancel, modify or restrict these offers at any time without notice to you and for any reason.

3.6 Discount code offers may not be shared, sold or exchanged. Discount codes from unauthorised internet postings are not valid and may be declined. We reserve the right to decline or cancel Bookings or Contracts placed with discount codes at our sole discretion.

4 Food and Drink

4.1 Only food or drink purchased at the Venue during your visit may be consumed within the Venue.

4.2 The consumption of alcohol by people aged 18 or over is permitted only when purchased from the Venue. No alcohol may be brought into the Venue. We operate Challenge 25 and reserve the right to ask for a valid proof of age at any time. If you are unable to prove your age, you will not be permitted to buy and/or consume alcohol whilst in the Venue. Alcohol must be consumed responsibly. We reserve the right to refuse entry to, or remove any person from, the Venue at any time we believe in our sole discretion to be in breach of this Clause 4.2 with no entitlement to a refund or credit.

4.3 For product details, including nutritional and allergen information, please see our Website, and ask a member of staff or check the back of pre-packaged items.

4.4 If you have pre-ordered food or drink as part of your Booking, these will be automatically prepared when you are checked in at reception and the timing for collection will be communicated to you. If these items are not collected and/or not consumed you will not be entitled to a refund or credit.

4.5 Food or drink can be purchased when you arrive at the Venue from any till point, by asking a member of staff, via a QR code link or via the Website. An order number will be provided to you and the status of the order shown on the collection screens in the Venue. For the avoidance of doubt, food or drink orders which are not collected cannot be refunded and you will not be offered a credit.

5 Cinema

5.1 Cinema tickets are sold by us at standard prices for the relevant performance. These prices may vary based on number factors including without limitation the location of the screen within the Venue, the timing of the performance, the specific titles, the sales channel and the ticket type. By requesting tickets through the Website, you are placing a Booking request for tickets in accordance with these terms and conditions that are only deemed accepted by us and binding once valid payment has been processed and you have received a Confirmation of your cinema Booking. If pricing of any tickets is included on the Website in error then the correct ticket price will be due and payable by you based on the standard pricing. Where errors have been made on pricing, we reserve the right to offer you the option to pay any difference in pricing or cancel the ticket, in which case we will offer you a refund.

5.2 Tickets bought online or through our sales or customer service channels include a booking fee of £1.35 per ticket.   The booking fee for Event Cinema bookings is £1.95 per ticket.  Certain exclusions apply including free issue tickets, for example Premiere member bookings, CEA, Toddler Time screenings.  Booking fees are refunded or credited in full whenever the ticket is cancelled. 

5.3 The purchase of a cinema ticket entitles you access to the performance named at the stated time and date in the designated location of the Venue only.

5.4 You must present each cinema ticket so it can be scanned by:

(a) Showing the ticket barcode on your smartphone or electronic device at the usher point.
(b) Printing the ticket at home and bringing the printed copy to the cinema to be scanned at the usher point.
(c) Providing your cinema Booking reference number at any customer service point and tickets will be printed for you.

5.5 Use of any cinema tickets will be strictly subject to our terms and conditions. If you are purchasing tickets on behalf of others you will be responsible for procuring their ongoing compliance with our terms and conditions.

5.6 It is your responsibility to check your tickets as we are under no obligation to rectify mistakes after the purchase of tickets. We are not obliged to replace lost or stolen tickets.

5.7 You may be asked to present the payment card used to make your cinema Booking or the cinema Booking reference number for verification in order to collect your tickets at the Venue. It is, therefore, your responsibility to ensure you bring the correct form of verification used to complete your cinema Booking.

5.8 We are a member of the Cinema Exhibitors Association (“CEA”). If you have a disability or special needs, you can apply for a CEA card. This allows your carer free admission when they attend the cinema with you. Guide, Hearing and other assistance dogs are welcome, but other animals are not permitted in the Venue. Loop and Fidelio systems are available on request for the visually or audio impaired.

5.9 Except as expressly provided in this Clause 5, cinema tickets are non-refundable. However, myLight, Premiere and Premiere+ Members will receive a credit for cancelled Bookings in the following circumstances:

(a) A cinema Booking is cancelled 2 hours before the scheduled time of the showing unless it is for an event cinema performance where 48 hours notice is required. When a cinema Booking is cancelled any associated food and drink items will also be cancelled and a credit created. Any Booking not cancelled within the specified time frame will not be credited.

(b) Any credits created will be added to your online account and may only be redeemed against purchases on the Website. For the avoidance of doubt, our teams onsite and/or our customer service teams will not be able to accept these credits.

(c) Credits cannot be used to purchase gift cards or gift packages and cannot be transferred to a gift card. Credits are valid for 3 months from the date of purchase.

5.10 Any merchandise purchased cannot be refunded or credited and must be collected within 14 days of purchase.

5.11 You can pre-order certain cinema combo items as part of a cinema Booking which can be collected at any time before or after the cinema performance. If you do not trigger your order on the date of the associated performance visit, the order will be automatically cancelled and credit added to your account which should be used within 3 months after which time the items will be forfeited.

5.12 You will be offered a full refund or the option to swap to an alternative screening and any difference in price will be charged or refunded to you where we are, for any reason, unable to provide a screening. Such refund will also include any online food or drink items purchased in advance at the same time which have not been fulfilled for any reason. Refunds will be made to the payment card used to make the cinema Booking.

5.13 You must not purchase tickets except for personal use and you represent, warrant and undertake that tickets are not purchased as part of any form of a for-profit business or commercial activity including without limitation a competition, unless we have expressly authorised otherwise in writing in advance.

5.14 You may purchase cinema tickets on behalf on yourself or friends and family but they may not be offered for re-sale, re-sold and/or offered for sale.

5.15 Student tickets will be issued only upon the production of a valid National Union of Students (“NUS”) identification showing a clear photograph of the student and the applicable expiry date of the identification. Student tickets will be limited to one per student. Photographic identification may be checked before admission to the cinema auditorium in the case of pre-booked tickets.

5.16 Senior tickets are available at certain times on specified days and will only be issued on the production of a valid senior card, senior bus pass, freedom pass or state pension letter. Senior tickets will be limited to one ticket per senior. Proof of entitlement and identification may be checked before admission to the cinema auditorium in the case of pre-booked tickets.

5.17 We will always try to show films in accordance with the advertised programme. However, there may be circumstances in which we are unable to comply with the advertised programme and we reserve the right to cancel a performance, vary the time of a screening or substitute an alternative film if this becomes necessary because of circumstances beyond our control including a Force Majeure Event. If this happens, we will, at our discretion, refund the cost of the ticket or issue another ticket for the same film on an alternative occasion. We are unable to take responsibility for programme information advertised by third parties.

5.18 Entry to films and events in the cinema is restricted by the classification given by the British Board of Film Classification or others. We are required to refuse admission to anyone who is below or appears to be below the minimum age required by the relevant classification. We reserve the right to require you to prove your age with appropriate photographic identification if you are going to a 12A, 15 or 18 film. If you are unable to prove your age you will not be able to watch the film. We reserve the right to ask for such proof at any time you are in the Venue.

5.19 We offer Baby-Friendly screenings for parents and their children under the age of 1 year old.   There must be one adult (parent or carer over 18 years old) to each child and a maximum of 2 adults per child. No children over the age of 1 are permitted for legal reasons. Adults who are not accompanying a baby will not be allowed to purchase a ticket to a Baby Friendly screening.

5.20 We offer Family Special screenings for families and younger children.  However these are not recommended for children under the age of 3.  We strongly recommend that You do not bring babies under the age of 1 to these screenings due to the potential impact of volume on a baby’s hearing.  

5.21 We offer Toddler Time screenings for toddler and pre-school children. Babies and older children are welcome to attend these screenings. Adults who are not accompanying a young child will not be allowed to purchase a ticket to a ‘Toddler Time’ screening.

5.22 For guests aged 60 and over, the Silver Screen offer is available on all screenings before 3pm every Thursday and costs from £5 per ticket. Additional charges may apply to select titles and recliner seats will incur an uplift. You can book a Silver Screen ticket online in advance or in-venue on the day, subject to availability. 

6 Bowling

6.1 We permit a maximum of 6 people per bowling lane at the Venue. We reserve the right to refuse entry to, or remove people from, the bowling lane if this capacity is exceeded.

6.2 We provide the bowling shoes at no additional charge and you must wear these if you are wearing heels or open toe shoes as they are prohibited on the bowling lanes, in addition to any footwear deemed unsuitable by us in our sole discretion. However, if you are wearing suitable shoes (e.g. trainers) then we may permit you to wear your own shoes. Please return the bowling shoes at the end of your session.

6.3 The minimum age for bowling is 4 years old. All children must be accompanied at all times by an adult. No children under the age of 4 are permitted in the bowling lanes for safety reasons.

6.4 Children must be supervised at all times and must not run around the Venue or be left unsupervised as this could cause injury.

6.5 Everyone must follow the safety measures and the instructions of The Light staff members at all times. In particular, all bowlers must:

(a) Not place your hand inside the bowling ball return at any time. Wait until the bowling ball has returned fully into the rack. If the bowling ball does not return fully please ask a member of staff to assist you.

(b) Not touch the bowling balls that are on the rack whilst you are waiting to bowl as your fingers could become trapped when the bowling ball returns.

(c) Not step over the black line at the start of the bowling lane surface. Our bowling lanes are coated with a special oil varnish to protect them and the surface is slippery.

(d) Not go near the bowling machine at the end of the bowling lane. If your ball gets stuck please ask a member of staff to assist you.

(e) Notify a member of staff immediately if you notice any slippery surface or spill a drink.

(f) Pick up the bowling balls carefully and hold with both hands. Children should only use lightweight balls whilst being supervised. The balls are heavy and may cause injury if dropped.

6.6 You may make a bowling lane Booking in the Venue or via the Website.

6.7 You may make bowling lane Bookings on behalf of yourself or friends and family but they may not be offered for re-sale, re-sold and/or offered for sale.

6.8 When making a bowling Booking, please ensure you provide complete and accurate information. It is your responsibility to ensure that your bowling Booking is correct and accurately reflects your selection. If a bowling Booking is not correct in any way, please notify us immediately on becoming aware using the contact details at the beginning of these terms and conditions.

6.9 We ask that you ensure all player names exclude any offensive words and/or names. We reserve the right to terminate your bowling Booking should we consider in our sole discretion you have included such offensive words and/or names and you will not be entitled to a refund or credit.

6.11 Bowling Bookings cannot be refunded, except strictly in accordance with your legal rights. For example, if we do not provide our services to you with reasonable care and skill or otherwise in accordance with the Contract. If you experience a problem, please let us know as soon as possible by speaking to a member of staff at the Venue or by using the contact details at the beginning of these terms and conditions.

6.12 Our Early Bird Bowling sessions run between 9 and 11am every Saturday and Sunday. They are also available every day during school holidays. The Light reserves the right to withdraw the offer any time without prior notice. Not to be used in conjunction with any other offer or discount. 

7 Adventure Climbing

7.1 A climbing session will last approximately 75 minutes and include a safety briefing and harness fitting and a 55 minute climb.

7.2 The minimum age for participating in a climbing session is 4 years old. The climber must weigh at least 10 kg to climb.

7.3 Every climber and/or their parent/guardian must attend the introductory safety session and have a signed Waiver completed before the climbing session begins. Please read the Waiver carefully before making a Booking for a climbing session.

7.4 Climbers under the age of 18 must have a signed Waiver completed on their behalf by their parent/Guardian before the climbing session begins.  Any child must be accompanied by an adult who must remain onsite for the duration of the climbing session. Such adult is entirely responsible for the welfare of the Climber at all times whilst in the Venue.

7.5 If one adult brings a group of children to the Venue, such adult is responsible for each member of the group and should ensure that a signed Waiver is completed on each child’s behalf and  remain onsite for the duration of the climbing session. Such adult is responsible for the welfare of each member of the group at all times whilst in the Venue. 

7.6 Everyone must follow the safety measures and the instructions of The Light staff members at all times. In particular, all climbers must:

(a) Wear appropriate footwear and clothing. 

(b) Not stand on the coloured mats or in fall zones whilst not climbing.

(c) Keep the rope tight and not pull on the rope and/or create any slack whilst climbing.

(d) Remain attached to the auto belay system at all times whilst climbing.

(e) Follow the instructions of our team, whether as part of the introductory safety session or otherwise.

7.7 We reserve the right to remove any climber from the session we believe in our sole discretion is endangering, or has the potential to endanger, themselves or others.

7.8 All climbers must be medically and physically fit enough to participate in the climbing session and any injuries and/or potential weaknesses must be reported to a member of staff before the climbing session begins.

7.9 Our Early Bird Climbing sessions are available on the first session of the day every Saturday and Sunday and school holidays. The Light reserves the right to withdraw the offer any time without prior notice. Not to be used in conjunction with any other offer or discount. 

Interactive Darts

8.1 An Interactive Darts session lasts 58 minutes. Please finish your session promptly to enable our team to prepare for the next Booking.

8.2 The minimum age for participating in an Interactive Darts session is 12 years old. All under 18s must be accompanied by an adult (over 18).

8.3 You acknowledge and agree Interactive Darts is a dangerous activity and has the significant risk and potential for injury to yourself and/or others. Players must assume full responsibility for their own safety whilst participating in an Interactive Darts session.

8.4 Players must not bring their own darts into the Venue. The darts provided by the Venue are specifically designed for use with our dart boards and external darts are not allowed to be used for health and safety reasons. As such, players must not use any darts other than those provided by the Venue during the Interactive Darts session.

8.5 At the end of your session, please return all equipment to our team.

9 Mini Golf

9.1 The minimum age for participating in a Mini Golf is 4 years old.

9.2 Please use the facilities at your own risk. The Mini Golf course may have tripping hazards so care must be taken whilst moving around the course and taking part in the Mini Golf.

9.3 At the end of your session, please return all equipment to our team.

9.4 Our Early Bird Mini Golf sessions run between 9 and 11am every Saturday and Sunday. They are also available every day during school holidays. The Light reserves the right to withdraw the offer any time without prior notice. Not to be used in conjunction with any other offer or discount. 

10 Karaoke

10.1 A karaoke session lasts 58 minutes. Please finish your session promptly to enable our team to prepare for the next Booking.

10.2 Each room has a maximum capacity of 15 people. We reserve the right to refuse entry to, or remove people from, the room if this capacity is exceeded.

10.3 Due to health and safety concerns, we do not allow for customers to stand or jump on any of the furniture including sofas, tables and stools.

10.4 At the end of your session, please return all equipment to our team.

11 Pool, shuffleboard and any outdoor activities

11.1 Please use the facilities at your own risk.

11.2 Due to health and safety concerns, please do not sit or lie on the tables.

11.3 At the end of your session, please return all equipment to our team.

12 Soft Play

12.1 Children must be between the ages of 2 and 6 years old to access the Soft Play Area.

12.2 All Children must be supervised at all times by an adult.

12.3 Please use the facilities at your own risk. Shoes, jewellery and sharp objects must be removed before entering the Soft Play Area.

12.4 The Soft Play Area may have tripping hazards so care must be taken whilst moving around.

13 Outdoor Kids Play Area

13.1 The maximum age for accessing the Play Area is 8 years old.

13.2 Children under the age of 8 years old must be supervised at all times.

13.3 Please use the facilities at your own risk. The Play Area may have tripping hazards so care must be taken whilst moving around. In particular, care must be taken whilst entering and exiting the Pirate Ship.

14 Gift Vouchers and Packages 

14.1 A gift voucher can be used at the Venue. It can be used in Venue and online via the Website to pay for tickets (including any applicable online Booking fees), Leisure Activity Bookings, food, drink, gaming sessions and other retail items. All purchases using a gift voucher are subject to availability, normal age restrictions, any other applicable terms and these terms and conditions.

14.2 A unique barcode is generated on purchase of a gift voucher. This must be shown at any point of sale for use. If using an online gift voucher, the full serial number must be entered in order to redeem the value of the online gift voucher.

14.3 A gift voucher has no value until activated. For gift vouchers purchased in Venue or online via the Website, the value which can be loaded onto a gift voucher is between £5 and £150. Gift vouchers cannot be used to purchase another gift voucher or membership.

14.4 The value on a gift voucher may be used where the transaction total is higher than the card balance, upon payment of the difference. If you do not use all the value on a gift voucher in a transaction, the remaining balance will be left on the gift voucher. No change will be given. If a transaction made using a gift voucher is subsequently cancelled or reversed, any value owing will be added back onto the relevant gift voucher.

14.5 You can check the balance on a gift voucher in Venue or by contacting customer services. If a gift voucher is not used for a period of 12 months from the date of activation, any remaining balance of value on a gift voucher will expire. A balance enquiry does not constitute use. Please contact customer services if you need help finding the expiration date of a specific gift voucher. We will not provide a refund or credit in the event the gift voucher expires.

14.6 Please keep your gift voucher secure. We are not responsible if a gift voucher is lost, stolen, destroyed or used without permission. We reserve the right to cancel a gift voucher if we reasonably suspect unlawful activity, fraud or misconduct. Damaged, altered or cancelled gift vouchers will not be accepted.

14.7 A gift voucher is not a credit, debit, charge or cheque guarantee card. A gift voucher cannot be exchanged for cash or for other vouchers/gift cards. A gift voucher is for your own personal non-commercial use. You may not resell a gift voucher.

14.8 All copyright, trade marks and all other intellectual property rights in and in relation to a gift voucher shall at all times remain the property of us. A gift voucher is non-exchangeable and non-refundable.

14.9 We reserve the right to suspend or discontinue the gift voucher scheme on reasonable notice for legal, security or regulatory reasons and any such action will be announced online on the Website. Reasonable notice will be given where possible.

15 Gift Card Memberships

15.1 The code on the card is issued by The Light, which operates a membership scheme in the UK.

15.2 The redeemer must agree to The Light membership terms and conditions when redeeming a code. See the full terms of the membership scheme.

15.3 The purchaser of the code on the card is purchasing a paid upfront membership for either 6 or 12 months which can be activated by redeeming the code.

15.4 The redeemer of the code must be eligible to join The Light membership scheme, they will need to be able to supply a small passport sized photograph, a UK postal address, a valid email address and be at least 16 years old.

15.5 To use the card, visit thelight.co.uk/giftmembership, choose your local The Light venue and follow the instructions to enter the code on the card. Cards must be redeemed online, they cannot be redeemed in the venue.

15.6 The code on the card must be used within 12 months of when the card was purchased. The gift membership will start when the code is redeemed, or immediately following the expiry date for an existing Member. We will not provide a refund or credit for expired gift card memberships.

15.7 The code can only be used once, and redemption of a code cannot be reversed.

15.8 The code on the card should be kept secure. The card cannot be replaced or replenished if lost, stolen or used without your permission.

15.9 Codes cannot be used in conjunction with any offer or discount. Codes cannot be redeemed against any other goods or services. Codes have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be topped up with another payment.

15.10 The purchaser and the redeemer can be the same person.

15.11 Codes can only be redeemed against an existing membership during the renewal period (1 month before expiry) for an existing fixed-term 6 or 12 month membership, or by a Member on the monthly payment plan to convert to a fixed-term membership.

16 Social Media Prize Draws, Competitions and Promotions

16.1 These are the standard terms and conditions for any social media competition, prize draw and/or promotion (collectively, “Prize Draws”) (“Prize Draw Terms and Conditions”) that we run within the Venue, via the Website or via social media. 

16.2 These Prize Draw Terms and Conditions apply to the Prize Draws we run within the Venue, on our Website or social media channels unless otherwise stated in the Prize Draw. 

16.3 We are the promoter for each Prize Draw.

16.4 By entering the Prize Draw, you will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by these Prize Draw Terms and Conditions.

16.5 The instructions provided in the launch message and/or at the point of entry form part of these Prize Draw Terms and Conditions. The prize(s) will be described in the relevant Prize Draw social media post. Prize Draw closing dates and draw dates will be set out in the Prize Draw social media post. In the event of a conflict, these Prize Draw Terms and Conditions take precedence.

16.6 When entering a Prize Draw via a social media platform, please note that the prize draw is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, that social media platform.

16.7 You must be 16 years or older unless otherwise specified, and resident in the UK or Republic of Ireland (as applicable) to enter any Prize Draw.

16.8 One entry per person is allowed (e.g. one entry per social media username or ticket transaction will be entered in the Prize Draw), unless specified otherwise.

16.9 You cannot enter the Prize Draw if you or a member of your family is an employee of The Light or Light Cinema, or any other company connected with us or the Prize Draw.

16.10 We reserve the right to verify the eligibility of entrants. We may require information we consider necessary for the purpose of verifying the eligibility. Prizes may be withheld until verification.

16.11 The winner(s) of each Prize Draw will be selected at random and under independent supervision from all eligible entries received. Each winner will be notified by us within a reasonable time after the Prize Draw date or any subsequent draw by email. We will notify all winners they have won via the details given at entry. This will comply with each social media platforms’ promotional rules.

16.12 Methods of contact will include receiving an email to the address that you used to make a Booking or a ‘direct message’ from us on the social media platform requesting your email address, followed by an email from us which will act as a Prize Draw win confirmation. On occasion we may request your address and mobile phone number.

16.13 Personal data will be collected, stored and processed for the purposes of administering and assessing Prize Draws. Your personal data will not be used for marketing or used by any third parties. Your personal data will be used in accordance with the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Prize Draw Terms and Conditions.

16.14 A Prize Draw is awarded conditionally upon acceptance. If we are unable to contact you within 7 days from initial contact or if any Prize Draw is unclaimed or declined within 7 days, the Prize Draw shall be deemed as unclaimed or unaccepted and a supplementary winner may be drawn by us. If the Prize Draw is time sensitive, we will state in the win confirmation how many days you will have to accept the Prize Draw.

16.15 Some Prize Draws may require you to accept third party terms and conditions, such as ticket terms, and acceptance of the Prize Draw will be subject to such conditions.

16.16 Unless otherwise stated, the Prize Draw winner(s) will be solely responsible for travel to and from the Venue and all other expenses. We assume no responsibility and are not liable for any costs, charges or expenses which Prize Draw winner(s) may be required to pay at any time in connection with a Prize Draw.

16.17 We reserve the right to provide a substitute prize of similar value if the specified Prize Draw becomes unavailable for reasons beyond a party’s reasonable control. Cash or credit alternatives will not be offered. None of the Prize Draws are transferable.

16.18 We accept no responsibility for incorrect or delayed entries. You accept the decision we reach is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

16.19 We reserve the right to end, amend or suspend any Prize Draw, amend these Prize Draw Terms and Conditions without prior notice, declare void the notification of winner(s) and/or to allocate available Prize Draws by conducting a simple draw from all wrongly allocated winner(s).

17 WEBSITE TERMS OF USE

17.1 The terms in this section (“Website Terms”) set out the legally binding terms which apply to everyone and accesses or uses the Website.  By accessing or using the Website, You agree to be bound by these Website Terms.

17.2 The Website is provided free of charge and We make no guarantee that it will be uninterrupted  or error free.  In addition, We reserve the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, all or any part of the Website without notice and without liability.

17.3 This Website and the materials on it are protected by copyright, trade mark and other intellectual property rights and laws throughout the world.  The materials on the Website are owned by or licensed to Us and may not be copied, reproduced, republished, uploaded, posted, transmitted or distributed in any way without our consent.  Modifcation of the materials or use of the materials for any other purposes is a violation of the copyrights and propriety.

17.4 Purchases made via the Website can be paid for using a combination of debit, credit or charge card, and/or gift vouchers (where available).

17.5 All prices displayed on the Website (unless otherwise stated) are inclusive of VAT (where applicable).

17.6 The Website contains links to other websites which are not controlled by Us.  The fact that We may provide a link to any such website does not mean that We endorse that website.  Such links are only provided for your convenience and You access them at your own risk.

17.7 You acknowledge that We are entitled to handle any personal information that You have supplied to Us when using the Website in accordance with the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms and Conditions.

17.8 We may immediately suspend and/or terminate an account on the Website if:

a) We suspect any fraud in any matter connected to the registration of the account;

b) The account holder misuses their account (eg. sharing with others or using the account other than for reasonable personal use);

c) The account holder commits any breach of these Terms and Conditions which cannot be corrected or if it has not been corrected with a reasonable time.

d) The account holder engages in any behaviour or activity which is disruptive or damaging to our business or operation, process or practice, including breaching our Terms of Entry; and /or

e) The account holder does not comply fully with these Terms and Conditions on a continuing and ongoing basis.

17.9 If you are under 16, please ask your parent or guardian’s permission before You use the Website (including sending Us information) or enter any competition that requires information about You or offers a prize.

17.10 By continuing to use the Website, You are confirming that you have the consent of your parent or guardian to do so.

18 General

18.1 You acknowledge, accept and agree that the car parking management and services at the Venue is operated by a third party organisation(s). On this basis, we are not responsible for the operation of such services, including without limit, any fines or penalties applied by such third party organisations.

18.2 Subject to the other provisions of these terms and conditions, and any and all Waivers which you may have signed, nothing in these terms and conditions affects your statutory rights as a customer or excludes or limits our liability for fraud or for death or personal injury resulting from our negligence or for any other liability which we cannot exclude or limit under law. Otherwise, our liability to you shall be limited to the total price paid for the relevant Leisure Activity Booking on the occasion you attended and the liability was incurred. Our total liability includes liability in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise arising under or in connection with these terms and conditions.

18.3 The following types of loss are wholly excluded:

(a) loss of profits;
(b) loss of sales or business;
(c) loss of agreements or contracts;
(d) loss of anticipated savings;
(e) loss of use or corruption of software, data or information;
(f) loss of or damage to goodwill; and
(g) indirect or consequential loss or damage.

18.4 All terms, representations or warranties, whether express or implied by statute or otherwise, not set out in these terms and conditions or any and all Waivers which you may have signed are, to the fullest extent permitted by law, excluded from these terms and conditions.

18.5 In addition to our other rights, in the event that you breach any of these terms and conditions, we reserve the right to take such action as is necessary to remedy or prevent a reoccurrence of such breach including recovering any costs incurred, banning you and/or suspending your access to/from the Venue and all premises owned by The Light and/or taking legal action.

18.6 If any provision of these terms and conditions is found to be invalid for any reason, the invalidity of that provision will not affect the remaining provisions of these terms and conditions which will remain in full force and effect.

18.7 If we fail at any time to insist on strict performance of any of your obligations under these terms and conditions, or if we fail to exercise any of our rights or remedies, this does not constitute a waiver of our rights or remedies and does not relieve you from compliance with your obligations. A waiver by us of any default does not constitute a waiver of any subsequent default. No waiver by us of any of these terms and conditions is effective unless it is expressly stated to be a waiver and is communicated to you in writing.

18.8 We reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions from time to time, to ensure compliance with law or regulation, for security reasons or to make non-material changes, and the amendment will be effective when posted on the Website. We may also change these terms and conditions to reflect material changes to the gift voucher scheme, but we will post any material changes on the Website at least 7 days in advance, and if you are not happy with these material changes, you can terminate your agreement with us for use of the gift voucher under these terms and conditions no later than 90 days after the material change takes effect.

18.9 These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and the Courts of England shall have jurisdiction over any claim or matter arising under or in connection with these terms and conditions.
